What are your payment terms? 

For retail orders, we ask for payment in full on all non-custom work.

For our trade clients, we ask for a 50% deposit to confirm all orders with the balance due before shipment. We prefer ACH bank transfers via Quickbooks for payments. Alternatively, checks can be sent to our Bainbridge Island studio address. Credit cards will only be accepted with an added 3% processing fee. 

Do you offer trade discounts?

We work with architects, interior designers and other trade professionals to help realize creative visions. We offer discounts and services to our trade partners.

What are your standard lead times? 

Our work is made to order so each piece has its own lead time. We list our estimated lead times on each product page in the shop section of our website. If your piece is custom in any way, please contact us at shop@graindesign.com for an estimated lead time. 

Where can we see Grain work in person?

We are open by appointment for studio tours at our Bainbridge Island location. We also have partner showrooms in New York, Los Angeles and Portland. We recommend calling ahead to make an appointment at all of our our showroom locations.

Do you provide samples? 

Yes, please see our samples section for all sample requests. If you don’t see something, please reach out to us at shop@graindesign.com for more info. 

Can you custom size your rugs? 

Yes, our rugs are made-to-order and we can work with you on a custom size and shape to fit your space. For an estimate, contact shop@graindesign.com with the name of the rug design you are interested in as well as your overall dimensions.  

Can your rugs be custom colored? 

Yes, our rugs are made-to-order and we can work with you on a custom color combination. Please see our yarn samples to see all our available yarn colors. We offer 100% natural undyed wool as our standard. We also offer wool blends and Sunbrella yarn options.

Our Sunbrella yarn is made with 50% recycled content and is Standard 100 OEKO-TEX certified. As well as being our vegan option, Sunbrella is fade resistant and can be used indoors and outdoors.

Do you recommend rug pads? 

Yes, we do recommend rugs pads to extend the life of our rugs. We can provide rug pad quotes on request. Our rug pads are rectangular and may need trimming on site to best fit the shape of the rug.

Do you offer custom sizes on furniture or lighting? 

Yes, we are happy to work with you to custom size our work for your space. For an estimate, contact shop@graindesign.com with the name of the piece you are interested in as well as your overall dimensions.  

Do you work with woods other than ash? 

Yes, FSC ash is our standard wood, but we are open to working with other wood species if we can source them responsibly. We do not work with any tropical hardwoods.  

Do you offer custom wood finishes? 

Yes, if you have a custom finish that you would like us to match, please reach out to us at shop@graindesign.com to discuss. We only work with low-VOC hand applied finishes. 

Do you provide drawings for approval on custom projects? 

Yes, for all custom projects, we provide drawings for approval after receipt of 50% deposit. It can take us a couple weeks to complete these drawings but this time is included in our estimated lead time.  

Do you provide white glove inside delivery? 

We ship UPS for small furniture pieces and use several freight shippers for larger pieces. We can provide a quote for white glove inside delivery on request. 

What if something arrives damaged? 

Please inspect all shipments for damage on receipt. Contact shop@graindesign.com within three business days to report any damage. Retain item and all original packing and shipping materials for possible inspection as part of our carrier's claim process. 

Do you accept returns? 

All of our work is made-to-order. We do not accept returns. 

We stand behind the products we make and strive to ensure all items meet our quality standards. We are happy to repair or replace any item that is found to be defective in its material or workmanship. This does not include regular wear-and-tear. The choice of repairing or replacing an item is at Grain’s discretion.

Do you still sell your shower curtains? 

We discontinued our shower curtains in 2020. It was a difficult decision as they were a popular product. As we grew, we moved more into furniture and no longer had the studio space and staff hours required to manufacture our curtains in-house. 

Where can I recycle my Grain shower curtain? 

At the end of its useful life, cut off the metal grommets and recycle them with metals locally. The rest of your curtain can be recycled at a facility that accepts #2 sheet plastic, or by returning it to Grain with the grommets removed at: Grain Ty Recycling, 12681 Miller Road NE, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110.

Where can we purchase your Totem Candles? 

We licensed our Totem Candles to our friends at Areaware. You can visit their site to place an order directly. If you are a retailer, you can reach out to sales@areaware.com for wholesale information.
